Models of the Year

Models.com just released the results of their Model of the Year Awards, which include two models, Industry's Choice and Reader's Choice, in different categories such as Model of the Year, Breakout Star of the Year, Social Media Star, Humanitarian, and Celebrity. I'm normally don't care about all the modeling news, as I'm usually looking at the clothes rather than their faces, but I do think it's important that they're recognized as more than clothes hangers, especially in today's world where they are so much more. Models are like actors in that they have to tell a story, but the difference is that they're telling the story of the clothes and acting with their faces.

Industry's Choice Model of the Year: Edie Campbell

I love Edie Campbell, even though she's not who everyone would think of as the model of the year, because she always changes her hair and she rides horses (a win-win). She also frequently inhabits the party pages of Tatler, along with her sister, Olympia, who is also a model.

Cara Delevigne won, without surprise, Social Media Star. I mean, she does have 9.6 million followers on Instagram. That's a lot of eyebrows.

Christy Turlington won the Humanitarian Award for her extensive work with charities.
Although Christy won the award, it was nice to see Jourdan Dunn in the nominations because most of the others were older models and, as Jourdan has shown, it's never too early to start helping others.

Industry's Choice Celebrity Model of the Year: Tilda Swinton
Ah Tilda. Tilda Swinton is such an icon, in both film and fashion. Her artsy androgyny makes her the perfect character or muse. (My favorite Tilda Swinton movie is I Am Love. All those intense food scenes won me.)

    1. Yes, Tilda Swinton plays The White Witch in Narnia and she also acts in many other (mostly arthouse) films. Long live Queen Tilda!
