Remember that floral print on your grandmother's curtains? Yeah, this isn't it. In fact, Erdem's resort 2016 collection completely reinvents whatever you thought floral was - whether you thought them a staple or stale. Erdem resort had an edgy elegance to it, an impressive feat considering it was almost entirely made up of florals. The collection had just the right amount of gothic black lace, dark sunglasses, leather and stern shoes to keep it from looking like a frilly garden party. In fact, at a certain point in the show, leather overrules lace and the aesthetic turns quite dark, especially for a resort collection. The collection is made up of structured, sharp silhouettes, but also light, flowing gowns, which provides a nice diversity in wearability. The other shape that makes this collection is a sculptural, spiraling effect created by ruffles of a stiffer fabric (usually leather or a starched blend.) This collection is cool; it has a certain look that is both the subject of envy and admiration for young people. Young people today don't need to show an unappealing amount of skin or be covered in brands to be cool. And Erdem resort 2016 perfectly covers that idea of the new cool.
This collection is simply gorgeous; I suggest you go to Style.com to see all the looks.
